Thoughts From the Week
- Don't be afraid to have fun once in a while. On Wednesday I was tangled up in the words
cerealand wrote a .Net Standard library called Cerealizer that I'm kind of proud of. It took a couple minutes, but it provided me joy all week.
- From James Clear: "Lack of confidence kills more dreams than lack of ability. Talent matters—especially at elite levels—but people talk themselves out of giving their best effort long before talent becomes the limiting factor. You're capable of more than you know. Don't be your own bottleneck."
Things I Wrote This Week
Real Salt Lake lost at home to LAFC with a score of 3-1 on Sunday. Before they visit the Seattle Sounders on Wednesday, I looked into what might have went wrong and how the team could prepare for the Sounders. I also talked a bit about how great Aaron Herrera has been this season.
In this part of the series, I started working on the objects needed to build out the resume based off a generic resume online. Really just trying to put everything in order to complete the build. It's a lot of repetition, but it makes everything easier.
Real Salt Lake boarded a plane to Seattle and didn't really put on a shining performance. It's a lot of investigating how to play defense, but the real gem is that I snuck in some really obscure references and silly metaphors. That's always my favorite part of writing anything.
The Third Sub is a podcast ran by fans of the Vancouver Whitecaps. With Real Salt Lake on the way they asked if someone from RSL Soapbox would be interested in doing an interview before the game. I jumped at the opportunity.
We talked for a good hour and fifteen minutes and probably could have kept going if time would have allowed. I think it was a great discussion about a lot of things including Real Salt Lake, soccer strategies, and officiating soccer at a high level.
