Bandcamp Friday (9/5/25)

Some albums I think you should look at this Friday.

Bandcamp Friday is a day where the platform waves all of their fees. This means that any purchase goes 100% to the artists.

So here are some albums I think you should take a look at today:

My Heart to Joy - "Seasons in Verse"

This album is one of those ones that make me wish I heard about a band before they broke up. It's somewhere between hardcore and spoken word to a certain extent. There's a degree of dissonance that is hard to explain until you've heard it.

Lewis - "Even So"

When I was young, I could really only afford to buy compilation CD's from the local music store. They were somewhere around $6 a piece and you could get a whole variety of music for that $6. That was a way better value than spending $13 for a CD and only having one or two songs you like.

Deep Elm Records used to have one called "Emo is Awesome, Emo is Evil" and it is seriously just banger after banger.

Lewis is a band I found through that compilation and spent so long trying to find a copy of it.

This is a very mellow album with some pretty compelling song writing. It's perfect for a rainy/fall day.

TimeXHeist - "The Unforgiving Minute"

Bandcamp Link

Listen, you know I had to do it.

It's three songs that absolutely shred and you're seriously messing up if you're not listening to it. Catch them on tour.

toe - "For Long Tomorrow"

Bandcamp Link

One of the most influential bands I've ever come across. They're a Japanese math-rock band. Everything they do is so beautiful and intentional. I was able to see them play in Boise a few years ago and it was one of those experiences I'll never forget.

They have a lot of albums and they span a whole range of moods and themes, but this is the go to. It's such a solid album from cover to cover. It's just a non-stop experience.

Skinhead - "It's a Beautiful Day, What a Beautiful Day"

Bandcamp Link

You're going to look at the band name and go "whoa...not sure about that."

You're going to look at the track listing and go "whoa...really not sure about that."

Just listen to it. It has to be up there with one of my favorite albums to come out in the last little while. The approach and the story telling is top notch especially if you grew up in a certain area and environment.
